Re: Request to reinstate the Disability Advisory Committee

On behalf of our organization (name), we would like to bring to your attention serious concerns experienced by our members with the Disability Tax Credit (DTC).

Provide a brief summary of your organization, its mandate and its membership.

Provide details of problems your membership is having when applying for the DTC.

Ask the Ministers to reinstate the Disability Advisory Committee (DAC) to:

  • Ensure transparency and tax fairness for all Canadians with disabilities who meet the legislative requirements for the DTC.
  • Facilitate productive dialogue between stakeholders representing Canadians with disabilities and senior officials of the Departments of Finance and National Revenue.
  • Review the policies and procedures of the CRA to ensure that they are being followed by the clerical staff and appeals officers.
  • Review Tax Court of Canada cases to ensure that the language in Form T2201 and accompanying Disability Related Information in RC4064 corresponds to the legislative intent of the DTC.
