Unlawful Discrimination by the Canada Revenue Agency

November 11, 2017

The eligibility criteria for people living with mental impairments discriminates against the most vulnerable members of our society. In her letter to the Ministers of Finance and National Revenue, Dr. Karen Cohen, executive director for the Canadian Psychological Society notes that the Canada Revenue Agency requires "more stringent eligibility criteria" for these individuals than those living with physical impairments.

"There must be parity," she states in her recommendations to the Ministers, "in how mental and physical disorders are treated under all of Canada's policies and legislation."
